Ashley Kammerer of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, set a new USBC Women's Championships record with an 818 series in the final match of qualifying on Sunday, May 8, at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas. Kammerer, who started the day in fourth place, rolled games of 279, 289 and 250 to finish with a 1,057 six-game total. She broke the previous record of 817, set by Stefanie Johnson in 2016. Kammerer's record-setting series helped her move into first place in the tournament standings. She is followed by Shannon O'Keefe of O'Fallon, Illinois, with a 996 total and Liz Johnson of Buffalo, New York, with a 994 total. The top 24 players after qualifying advance to match play, which will begin on Tuesday, May 10. The championship match will be held on Thursday, May 12. Kammerer, who is a two-time USBC Queens champion, is looking for her first USBC Women's Championships title. She is the first bowler to roll an 800 series in USBC Women's Championships history. "It's an amazing feeling," Kammerer said. "I'm so excited to have set the record. I've been working really hard this year, and it's paying off." Kammerer's record-setting series is a major accomplishment, and it will be interesting to see if she can continue her success in match play.
